The money will be used to provide youth provision for local young people and a support service for young adults aged 18-24 who have a learning disability. The funding will also help towards replacing our all weather pitch surface which is used by 100's of young people and adults from the community most days of the week.
MP Helps to Launch The New Facilities

On Wednesday 10th September 2014, Blaby and Whetstone Youth Club unveiled their new £700,000 facility to its members and those involved in the development work. The Football Foundation granted the club £340,767 towards the cost of the renovation, with the rest of the money being received from grant giving organisations, the Local Authority and the club’s own fundraising.

Brian Cleaver, Chairman at Blaby & Whetstone Youth Club, said: “We decided a few years ago that we would like to mark our 50 years from our current site by carrying out a major refurbishment of the facilities, which will allow us to provide even more youth services and sporting opportunities.”
The club was officially opened by Edward Timpson MP following an address by Baroness Hazel Byford and Keith Murdoch CEO of Leicestershire & Rutland County FA.
Edward Timpson MP, Children and Families Minister, said: “It was a privilege to attend the opening of this impressive facility at Blaby and Whetstone Youth Club. Getting children active and involved in sport does not just have health benefits; it also helps to teach confidence, teamwork and the satisfaction of achieving a goal. Investing in grassroots sport is a vital part of creating the opportunities for them to learn those lessons.
I want to congratulate everyone involved in this project for their hard work and thank the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, and the Football Stadia improvement fund for their considerable investment.”
Inspector Sanjiv Pattani, LPU Commander for Blaby District was unable to attend the event but recognised the hard work that Blaby and Whetstone Youth Club do by saying: “Congratulations on your fantastic achievement, I know that clubs such as yours make a real difference in our communities. You and your colleagues make a real and positive impact on the lives of young persons.”
